  About Kai-Hua  

Kai-Hua Cheng is a talented designer, illustrator and animator. Her experience includes web design, children’s book illustration, storyboarding, painting and Flash animation.

A native of Taiwan, Kai-Hua studied children’s book illustration at the Ecole National Supérieure Estienne de Paris, graduating in 2000. She continued her studies at the Ecole Supérieure des Arts-Décoratifs de Strasbourg where she participated in a student exchange program that took her to Boston at the School of Museum of Fine Arts. While in Boston, Kai-Hua studied traditional animation and sound, interning with FableVision Studios. She graduated with honors from Strasbourg in 2004, earning a BAC+4 (Master’s equivalent).

After returning to Taiwan, Kai-Hua worked with Sayers Animation Studios for Disney Taiwan and provided illustrations for a children’s book, "Piggy Ann.” In 2005, she moved to San Francisco, where she joined SustainLane and helped create The Unsustainables, a short-form animated series that appeared on Comcast On Demand’s Green Scene in 2007 and was sponsored by Northern California Toyota. The media property was valued by a major motion picture studio at more than $2 million.

Kai-Hua joined Native Instinct, an interactive design shop, in late 2007. She provided visual design, animation, illustration and art direction for clients that included Annie Chun’s, Aptimus/University of Phoenix, Dell, Stub Hub, and Visa.

A dedicated artist, Kai-Hua’s spare time activities include classical guitar, painting and training her pet bird. She speaks four language: English, French, Taiwanese and Mandarin.
